ONE WEDDING DRESS - STYLED 3 WAYS
In this new series of blog posts I’m going to take a dress (whether for a bride, mother of the bride, wedding guest, race goer or other occasion) and make styling suggestions. This first post, I’ve selected a beautiful gown by the uber talented (and very lovely) British Designer, Sassi Holford.
THE DRESS
MIRABELLE
DESIGNER - SASSI HOLFORD
“This sweetheart gown with tulle illusion bodice is hand finished with sequin and beaded embellishments for added sparkle. The incredible soft organza and tulle layered ball gown skirt is soft and ethereal for the ultimate elegance. “ Sassi Holford.
STYLING OPTION ONE
HEADPIECE - ZOE
The Zoe headpiece is pure understated romance. It is a flexible design, formed with soft(ish) wiring, crystal diamante and pearls. The pearls will compliment the tulle and organza of the dress whilst the crystal and diamante will compliment the sequin and beaded embellishments.
JEWELLERY - VIENNA EARRINGS (READY TO WEAR)
Simple earrings and possibly a bracelet. I wouldn’t recommend a necklace for two reasons. Firstly the neckline just doesn’t need it, there is enough detail without it and the balance is already perfect. Secondly, I would worry about how it would sit over the illusion fabric, it would need to be long enough not to get caught on the edge of it and I wouldn’t want to snag it.
HAIR - SOFT UP DO - SHARON ROBERTS HAIR
This soft romantic up do frames the face beautifully and shows the earrings. It creates and elegant long neck to flatter the soft neckline of the dress. The Zoe vine would fit around the head and disappear in to the rolled hair and pinned.
STYLING OPTION TWO
HEADPIECE - HELENA HAIR PIN
The Helena hair pin is a romantic nature inspired design, created with Swarovski crystal and pearls. It is mounted on a hair pin, perfect for tucking in to an up do. Why not have two and position either side of a loosely rolled up do. As with the Zoe option, the crystal and pearl combination with beautifully reflect the gorgeous fabric and the painstaking hand embellished beads and sequins.
JEWELLERY - PISA EARRINGS (READY TO WEAR)
I’ve suggested these earrings as because the detail is around the back of the hair then wearing earrings with a little movement would work well. I don’t generally think bold earrings and a visible headpiece together are great for bridal styling, you risk running in to “Christmas Tree” territory which is fine for party and red carpet extroverts but on a wedding day the bride herself should shine first and foremost.
HAIR - ROLLED UP DO - CHRIS FORDHAM HAIR DESIGN
This romantic rolled up do is perfect for the elegant romance of this beautiful Sassi Holford gown and it has just the right balance of elegant formality and softness. You could pin 1, 2 or 3 Helena pins in to this up do, your choice.
STYLING OPTION THREE
JEWELLERY - SANTORINI EARRINGS (READY TO WEAR)
No headpiece, make it about the statement earring. For me this is an elegant and “grown up” styling option that oozes sophistication whilst reflecting the pretty femininity of this soft, ethereal gown. If you have long hair then I would definitely suggest that it needs to be worn back from the face if sporting statement earrings, from the point of view of clean lined elegance but also to prevent hair getting tangled, it would drive you nuts seeing that on photographs afterwards.
HAIR - UP DO - SHARON ROBERTS HAIR
I really don’t believe that a beautiful hair style like this needs hair accessories, the skill and style of the hair do speaks volumes and doesn’t need adding to. What this style does do though is to frame the face perfectly and enhance that long neckline, needed to carry off a pair of dangling statement earrings.
SHORT HAIR - PIXIE CUT (THINK EMMA WILLIS)
Brides don’t have to have long hair to be fabulous, it’s a myth, much in evidence though out all social media platforms, Pinterest and wedding blogs and magazines. You can look utterly stylish and stunning rocking short hair!
Well that’s about it for my first styling post, which option would you go for?
If you have a dress in mind you’d love to see styled just let me know and I can do a post.
Until next time!
